Dear students,
Students who wish to take courses from the summer schools of other higher education institutions during the 2024–2025 academic year must submit the three documents listed below in full to Res. Asst. Aytuğ KUMANDAŞ no later than the end of working hours on Friday, 11 July 2025.
- "Application Form for Taking Summer School Courses from Other Higher Education Institutions” (click here to access the form and fill out the form completely)
- Approved transcript (E-government printouts are accepted)
- Approved course descriptions (Course descriptions of the summer school courses to be taken, obtained from the host university’s website or student affairs)
Students applying must pay attention to the following points:
- To take courses from another institution’s summer school, the minimum admission score of the relevant department at the host university must be equal to or higher than the ÖSYM minimum admission score of the program in which the student is enrolled. The most recent year’s (2024) minimum scores are taken into consideration.
- A student who wishes to take summer school courses at another higher education institution must apply in writing to the department chair with documents showing the course content, ECTS, and national credit information of the course offered by the host university. Without requiring equality in national or ECTS credits, the course content is reviewed, and if it is more than 80% compatible/sufficient, the course is considered equivalent. With the approval of the department chair, the student may take the course from the other institution.
- In one summer school period, a student may take up to five courses from OMU and/or other higher education institutions, not exceeding a total of 13 national credits, or one course if a single course exceeds 13 national credits.
- To take a prerequisite course in summer school, the student must have successfully completed its prerequisite. (Our department’s prerequisite courses are provided on the second page of the referenced file.)
- The dates of the summer school must not conflict with internship dates.
- Students wishing to attend summer school at private universities must prepare their application forms by considering the “non-scholarship minimum admission score (or the minimum score of the lowest available scholarship category if no non-scholarship score exists)” of the host university. This score must be equal to or higher than our department’s ÖSYM minimum admission score.
- A student must indicate the courses they plan to take in summer school on the “Application Form for Taking Summer School Courses from Other Higher Education Institutions.” Since the form will be reviewed and approved by the Faculty Administrative Board (FYK), after the summer school, only the courses approved by FYK will be considered for equivalency. Courses taken but not approved by FYK will not be counted as equivalent under any circumstance.
