The patent application submitted by our faculty member Prof. Dr. Ufuk Kırbaş has been evaluated and officially registered by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office.
The invention developed by Prof. Dr. Ufuk Kırbaş, titled “High-Strength, Water-Resistant Thermal and Sound Insulation Board,” stands out as a sustainable and innovative insulation material. The board is produced by mixing waste plastic, waste sponge, and industrial hemp shives, and compressing the mixture at the melting temperature of the plastic. As a result, it is a long-lasting, durable, and human-safe product.
Thanks to its recycled and organic composition, the board can be used as a partition or insulation material in floor and wall assemblies without requiring any additional building elements. It aims to provide effective thermal and acoustic insulation in various structures, from residential buildings to commercial spaces.
This achievement once again highlights the productivity and innovative vision of our department in research and development activities.
